It runs from <a title="Prince Edward Road" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Edward_Road">Prince Edward Road</a> near <a class="new" title="Beverly Villa" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Beverly_Villa&amp;action=edit">Beverly Villa</a> to <a class="new" title="Hereford Road" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hereford_Road&amp;action=edit">Hereford Road</a> near <a title="Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Kong_Institute_of_Vocational_Education">Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education</a> Lee Wai Lee campus.<sup class="reference" id="_ref-centamap_0"><a title="" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Salle_Road#_note-centamap">[1]</a></sup></p><p><a id="Location_and_routing" name="Location_and_routing"></a></p><h2><span class="mw-headline">Location and routing</span></h2><p>Administratively La Salle Road is located in the Prince Edward and Kowloon Tong constituencies of <a title="Kowloon City District" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kowloon_City_District">Kowloon City District</a>.<sup class="reference" id="_ref-ccmap_0"><a title="" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Salle_Road#_note-ccmap">[2]</a></sup></p><p>It starts from a dead-end right beyond Prince Edward Road in the Prince Edward constituency and junctions with Prince Edward Road. Then it runs slightly northward and meets Boundary Street. After that, the road runs northward past Beverly Villa, <a title="La Salle Primary School" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Salle_Primary_School">La Salle Primary School</a>, La Salle College and meets <a title="Nga Tsin Wai Road" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nga_Tsin_Wai_Road">Nga Tsin Wai Road</a> and <a title="Lancashire Road" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lancashire_Road">Lancashire Road</a>. When the <a title="Colonial Hong Kong" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonial_Hong_Kong">colonial government</a> decided to build a street that runs through Kowloon City and <a title="Kowloon Tong" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kowloon_Tong">Kowloon Tong</a>, La Salle College was already in operation, so the road was naturally named after the school.<sup class="reference" id="_ref-0"><a title="" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Salle_Road#_note-0">[3]</a></sup></p><p>When interpretors in the colonial government <a title="Transliteration" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transliteration">transliterated</a> the name "La Salle" into <a title="Chinese language" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_language">Chinese</a>, they misregarded the final <i>e</i> in <i>Salle</i> as a sounding vowel, and therefore translated the name into 喇沙利 (<a title="Jyutping" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jyutping">Jyutping</a>: laa³saa¹lei⁶). Unlike a similar case, <a title="Salisbury Road, Hong Kong" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salisbury_Road,_Hong_Kong">Salisbury Road</a>, the pronunciation misinterpretation remained in the Chinese transliteration of La Salle Road until today.<sup class="reference" id="_ref-1"><a title="" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Salle_Road#_note-1">[4]</a></sup></p></div>
