[simple tourist]Chocolate Biscuit (Paris)
In Paris, you might often hear people saying, "Hey, let's go to the chocolate biscuit!" And you think to yourself, "What?! Chocolate Biscuit?? Isn't that supposed to be 'eaten' rather than 'visited'??"
But Parisians DO call their new national library "the chocolate biscuit".
Officially, the library is named after ex-president François Mitterrand. And Parisians call it the "BN" (abbreviation of "Bibliothèque Nationale"), which is the brand name of a popular chocolate biscuit.
The collection of the "chocolate biscuit" now includes more than 12 million books and manuscripts, 500,000 periodicals, 800,000 medals and coins, and 650,000 maps and prints.
It is located in the 13th District of Paris, overlooking the Quai de la Gare on the Seine. The easterly part of this district is known as "Chinatown", inhabited by an unbelievable number of Chinese and Asian restaurants, shops and supermarkets.
