There are about 60 theatres in London, and approximately 43 theatres in the West End. Each theatre will usually have one show on every night (except for some theatres like the Royal Opera House and the Royal Court where there will be
more than one performance), so it means there will be
more than 60 different shows on every night!
Blue Man Group -- New London
Chicago -- Adelphi
The Comedy of Errors -- Novello
Fame -- Aldwych
The Lion King -- Lyceum
Mamma Mia! -- Prince of Wales
Mary Poppins -- Prince Edward
Les Miserables -- Queen's
The Phantom of the Opera -- Her Majesty's
Pinocchio -- Theatre Royal Stratford East
The Producers -- Drury Lane
Twelfth Night -- Novello
Well, I suppose most people would be interested in Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera. For Her Majesty's Theatre, where The Phantom is shown, I would suggest getting off at the Charing Cross tube station. Pass by the Trafalgar Square and make a turn at the National Gallery, and Her Majesty's Theatre isn't
that far away.
Yet, for Queen's Theatre, where Miserable is shown, be prepared to walk a bit. Queen's Theatre is on Shaftesbury Avenue, where there are totally about 5-6 theatres. (Can you imagine??) The closest station should be the Piccadilly Circus station, but alas, you still have to walk for a while.
Normally the theatre would be opened 20 to 30 minutes before the show starts, so you don't really have to hurry. But I would strongly recommend arriving 15 minutes before the show starts (especially when you're sitting in the middle). So, get ready and enjoy the show! : )
P.S. About buying tickets, you could of course:
1. book it online (the easiest, but I wonder if you could choose the exact seat)
2. call the box office (many box offices operate 24 hours)
3. buy it in the "Theatre Tickets" boxes on street (I know there's one in Covent Garden)
4. go to the box office (I don't really suggest this one... unless you're living in London)
